Volleyball Starts Off Strong, Receives #3 National Ranking

Kansas City, Mo.

The Calvary University Women’s Volleyball team has opened their 2025 season in dominant fashion, posting a perfect 4-0 record without dropping a single set. The Warriors have controlled every match so far, earning straight-set victories in each contest and setting the tone for what promises to be an exciting season.

Before regular season play began, Calvary showed early signs of their strength by defeating their preseason scrimmage opponent MidAmerica Nazarene University's Varsity Researve (3-1). That momentum carried directly into competition, where the team’s unified energy has been on full display.

Their strong start has not gone unnoticed on the national stage. In the latest NCCAA Division II Women’s Volleyball Coaches’ Poll, Calvary received the #3 national ranking, a testament to the program’s continued growth and the players’ hard work.

“I'm excited for the potential that this team has for success,” said Calvary Head Coach Jojo Wilkes. "The team is stronger collectively than any Calvary team that I have coached so far, so it will be a fun season. We had a great recruit class, and I am excited to see the team continue to grow and reach their potential as we go through this season."

With early success already fueling confidence, the Warriors are aiming to build on their momentum as they move deeper into their schedule. Fans can expect exciting matches ahead as Calvary looks to prove themselves worthy of that top ten ranking. Several players have achieved national ranking as well in various areas of the game: Nora Gianinetti, ranked #9 in the nation in blocking; Brooke Behlen, ranked #5 in the nation in digs; Kenleigh Elder, ranked #10 in the nation in digs; and Timry Goodman, ranked #4 in the nation in service aces. We are excited to see all that this team will accomplish as the season continues with Calvary taking on NAIA opponent Bethany College on Thursday night!
