Matt Sanders

Coach Matt Sanders joined Calvary University in 2015 as head coach for the CU Warrior men’s basketball team and Assistant Athletic Director. In 2024, Matt was added to the athletic staff as the Athletic Director. Sanders previously worked as a men’s basketball coach at Lee University and Heirway Christian Academy before joining the staff at Calvary.

Coach Sanders has had many successful seasons at Calvary, including a NCCAA DII Regional Championship and subsequent nationals appearance in 2021. Matt was himself a successful collegiate athlete, earning a golf scholarship to North Greenville University in Tigerville, South Carolina. He also received Player of the Year honors during his collegiate career. In 2007 Sanders received the coaching accolade of Coach of the Year.

Sanders earned a BS in Communcations and went on to receive a Master’s degree in Education. 

Matt is married to Mrs. April Sanders, a teacher in the Kansas City area. They have one son, AJ.
