DUBUQUE, IA – September 30, 2017 – The Calvary University Volleyball team went 1-2 over their weekend in Iowa, losing to Faith Baptist Bible and Emmaus Bible College 3-0, and defeating Dayspring Bible College 3-0.
Against Faith, all three sets were close fought matches, with Calvary losing the first 25-23 and the second 20-25. The Lady Warriors only led once in both sets. The Warriors led the entire third set until the Eagles went on a 11-4 run to win the match 25-23. The Warriors hit .153, but 25 errors were a major factor in the loss.
After a tough loss against Faith and a long bus trip the night before, the Warriors were already at a disadvantage coming into their game against the #5 Emmaus Eagles. Unfortunately, the first set showed that with a 25-9 loss. Sets two and three were much better, but the Lady Warriors couldn’t push to get a win towards the end, losing 25-18 and 25-20. Overall, Calvary had a .039 kill percentage, and only 24 kills, short of their season average of 37 kills per game.
The Lady Warriors fared a little better against Dayspring Bible College hitting .208 and totaling 39 kills. Calvary never trailed at any point in the game, winning 25-25, 25-20, and 25-16.
With the win against Dayspring, the Lady Warriors snapped their 4 game losing skid and move on to 6-5 overall and 1-4 in conference play.
