With the third signing of the 2018-19 recruiting class, Calvary University head men’s basketball coach, Matt Sanders, is pleased to announce the signing of Ben Jones, a 6’5” forward from Barnsdall, Oklahoma.
A standout player from the Tulsa CHEF homeschool basketball team, Ben averaged 21 points per game in his junior and senior seasons. He grabbed 10.3 rebounds per game, 3.5 assists per game, and tallied 1.7 steals and 2.9 blocks per contest in his senior year for the Arrows.
Jones started all four years for his high school team, and scored over 1,000 points during his career. His team was also a silver ball champion in the NCHBC Tournament, and Ben was chosen as a finalist for the dunk contest at the 2018 Championship.
“The addition of Ben to our team and program is so exciting” said Coach Sanders. “Ben comes from a large family, and long history of great people and players on his team at Tulsa CHEF. Ben has a calm and cool demeanor, and that is a testament to his upbringing in such a Godly home, and his heart for Christ. Ben brings length exceptional athleticism to our team. He can really rebound and score. We are so proud to have him be a part of our warrior family.”
The son of William and Carla Jones, Ben chose CU because he felt it was the place God was calling him to when he first came and visited. He is planning to study pastoral ministry and wants to be a youth pastor after he graduates.
