Calvary University volleyball is excited to announce our newest signee for the 2020-2021 season, Annaliese Broce of Kampala, Uganda. Annaliese comes to Calvary from Heritage International School of Uganda where she was coached by Ernie Reynolds. The Broce’s spent 5 years on the mission field in Uganda and have also spent time in Guatemala. Annaliese is a middle hitter and defensive specialist who will be a versatile player for Calvary. She began playing volleyball at 14 years of age. Annaliese recently toured Calvary and Coach Tressa Shoemaker noticed her kindness and interest in athletics. After her first workout Coach Johnson pointed out, “Annaliese is a very strong and a talented young woman. She is used to playing all-around and will be a great asset to our team this year and for years to come.”
Annaliese will study business in hopes of fulfilling a dream to own her own coffee shop as the Lord allows. When asked about the team aspect of volleyball Annaliese shared, “Getting to learn and grow not just by myself but with my team creates a bond that can be stronger than just a friendship.” In reference to her upbringing Annaliese recollects, “I grew up in a Christian family so it’s really all I’ve known but being away from my parents for 2 years lead me a bit astray. I’m excited to be able to build that relationship up again and be encouraged by my peers around me.” Annaliese is excited to continue her volleyball career because throughout high school it was an activity that brought her a lot of happiness. She’s excited to be able to ramp that energy back up. We celebrate together with Annaliese and her parents Glenn and Marjorie Broce. Please join us in congratulating her. Welcome to Calvary, Annaliese!
