Men's Basketball Wins Consolation Championship at MCCC Conference Tournament

Manhattan , Kan.

The Calvary Warrior Men's Basketball team took to the court in Manhattan, Kansas, for the MCCC Men's Basketball Tournament and came out as consolation champions! This win is exciting for our men's team as they head into more post season play next week in the regional tournament.

On Thursday of the tournament, the men took on Faith Baptist Bible College, the #4 ranked team in the MCCC. The Warriors battled the Faith Eagles, with a losing halftime score of 30-35. They pushed to make a comeback in the second half, but fell short as the Eagles made a big push with a final score of 65-86. This loss moved the Warriors automatically to the consolation championship game on Saturday.

The men showed up to play a tough opponent, the Barclay Bears in the consolation championship game, who had just come off a huge upset win against the #3 ranked Emmaus Eagles to get into the consolation matchup. Barclay pulled out to take the lead in a close first half with a score of 36-39, but the Warriors answered back in the second half. The Warriors became the Consolation Champions with a score of 83-76 in an exciting finish to the game.

The Warriors take the court again Tuesday, February 25 in the first round of the NCCAA DII Regional Tournament against Union Adventist at 3:00 PM.
